The association is involved in several green initiatives including recycling old playground equipment to be refurbished and reused in Haiti for impoverished children, shredding and recycling events, use of natural irrigation systems, bulk tree replacements, rubber mulch removal, cloud-based scanning system for all office files, and a natural tree area renovation and weed elimination with the use of goats, as well as an educational seminar on native plant regeneration. Belmont Community Association has won the prestigious Associa Green Award for two consecutive years for its environmental initiatives. And they were recently recognized by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors for their ongoing dedication to environmentally-friendly initiatives — marking the first time this recognition has been given to an HOA. 16
