EDITOR'S LETTER "It's a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realized what's changed is you." -F. Scott Fitzgerald It started with an idea. Well, it actually started with a challenge. We're spending more time on our devices, sharing on social media and consuming tons of information from brands we love, but study after study shows that our constant access to information can leave us feeling overwhelmed at best and anxious and depressed at worst. So we took on the challenge to create something different. In a world where we've grown accustomed to reacting to every chirp, beep, and buzz from our devices, we didn't want to create more noise. We wanted to create a publication that offered a respite from the information overload. But, we also had some other criteria: It had to be easily accessible. It had to provide actionable information. It had to make you feel good. And, it had to be true to our roots. Welcome to Coming Home by Associa — a digital magazine created from a deep desire to connect homeowners to the things they care about most— in their homes and in their communities. As the largest community association management company in North America, we are uniquely positioned to see what's important to homeowners — whether you're in a condo, townhome, active adult, or gated community — our teams work closely with you to help you achieve your community's vision. And now we're broadening the conversation with a magazine dedicated to delighting you. Our purpose is clear: • Inform. Our content informs you so that you can make smart decisions in your home and community. We share trends, legislation, technology, best practices and current events that will impact the way you interact within your community. • Inspire. The content you read within these pages is created to inspire you to do good. • Improve. We offer more than platitudes. Our content gives you actionable ways to improve the place you call home. We want this magazine to be just like coming home — that familiar look and feel — of well-earned relaxation and comfort at the end of a long and busy day. And there's no better time for a reminder to take a break than the holidays. That's why we've packed this issue with simple tips to support you as you're navigating your neighborhood (see Mission: Micro on page 10) and navigating your way around neighborhood gossip (great tips on page 7). The holidays are all about reflecting on traditions — and whether you buck them by adding our crowd-pleasing Puerto Rican Pork Roast recipe (page 13) to your normal holiday menu or embrace them using inspiration from other readers (page 15) — we hope that you find this issue of Coming Home to be as cozy and warm as that familiar pair of slippers and your favorite holiday libation.
