With decades of experience under
his belt, restauranteur, Tom Landis,
noticed that the two biggest issues
he faced in the restaurant industry
were employee turnover and
customer service. He also recognized
that in North Texas alone, there are
over 240,000 adults with special
needs looking for work. So, rather
than hiring a firm to help him find
efficiencies in his restaurants, he did
something different. Inspired by his
mother who suffered from Polio,
Gene Stallings' book, Another Season,
and Proverbs, Tom began working
with special needs organizations to
hire, train and employ people with
Down syndrome and autism at his
store, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream.
"Howdy Homemade was born out
of a vision to see, and realize, the
potential of everyone," Tom explains.
From their flagship store in Dallas,
Texas or their Salt Lake City, Utah
location, Howdy Homemade serves
up unique flavors like S'mores, Candy
Cane and the year-round best-seller,
Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip.
And the sweetness is spreading -
franchise opportunities are available
if you want this pinch of goodness in
your neighborhood.
Thank you Howdy Homemade for
