Image courtesy of Seven Oaks Community Association Completed in 2002, Seven Oaks Community Association is a planned-unit development located in Odenton, Maryland. The community sits on more than 725 acres of land and consists of approximately 2,387 residential units, including single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes, and condominiums. It also features an elementary school, three apartment complexes, and 1.5 million square feet of retail, commercial, and o"ce space with businesses, eateries, and a grocery store. Seven Oaks Community Association recently won the 2019 Associa Green Award for its environmental initiatives. The prestigious award recognizes Associa-managed communities that promote green living through seven categories: green building, energy e"ciency, resourceful water use, trees and green space, recycling and waste reduction, education, and innovation. Associa Green received many exceptional submissions for consideration, but Seven Oaks Community Association stood out by going above and beyond with environmentally friendly events, activities, and services. The impressive property o•ers residents a naturalized area, which includes a beaver pond and many open spaces where children can play. The community also implemented a change to its governing documents to allow compost bins, partnered with a local Girl Scout troop to educate the neighborhood about the dangers of feeding local geese, and hosts a bi-annual Seven Oaks Community Clean-Up Day. The residents of Seven Oaks Community Association remain dedicated to living a green and sustainable lifestyle, and each of their projects will help the environment and the community for many years to come. 25
