very summer, my family took a cross-country
road trip in our 1970s RV. My siblings and I
spent our time laughing, bickering, and listening to
Sonny and Cher, teeming with excitement about where
we were going and what we'd see next. We explored
national parks by day and gathered around campres
at night; however, when I look back, it's not the
destinations I remember most, but the time we spent
getting there.
As kids, we learned not to ask, "Are we there yet?" e
response was never clear, nor what we wanted to hear.
So, we had to use our imagination and make up songs
and games to help us pass the time and move through
the uncertainty.
While those days have come and gone, what I
discovered back then still rings true today: in times of
uncertainty, creativity thrives. People act—they unite
in the unknown, seek purpose, and find new ways
to move forward. And that's what this issue is all
about—movement. It was developed and produced
in a time of considerable uncertainty, and I hope
our creativity shines through as we celebrate what
movement means to us.
We're highlighting physical movement with our
favorite ways to move our bodies (P. 21) and tips for
moving homes (P. 14). Movement is also emotional,
so we're sharing poetry (P. 5) and learning how pets
impact our well-being (P. 22). Movement is about
progress and evolution, so we're reecting on how
far HOAs have come (P. 26) and showing how one
community is moving towards a sustainable future
(P. 25).
Regardless of what movement means to you, I hope you
nd a piece of it here. We may not know where you're
going or when you'll get there, but we're happy you
chose to bring Coming Home along for the journey.
