PINCH OF GOODNESS Volunteer Matchmaking FIND THE RIGHT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU. From sketching comics to playing volleyball, your personal passions can create positive change. Our world is teeming with opportunities to make a difference—and you don't have to be a seasoned professional in any arena to impact someone else's life. That's right; you can put your skills, hobbies, and interests to good use for a good cause. Follow our volunteer matchmaking guide to discover the best fit for you! FOR THE TEACHER We all have at least one topic we're experts on—why not share that insight? Donate your time to teach your favorite subject in after-school tutoring or summer classes. Great at an instrument? Give free lessons to someone who wants to learn. If you're multi-lingual, host a crash course on the language at your community center. Knowledge is power, and your academic contributions can help others build a stronger, more informed future. FOR THE ARTIST You're in luck; art volunteering is a realm of its own. If you're crafty and enjoy kids, offer an oil painting or clay sculpting workshop. Consider collaborating with a public art non-profit to beautify your neighborhood with a mural, or gift pieces to charity auctions to raise funds for a cause close to your heart. Art is transformative, and it's easy to leverage your creative craft for a bigger purpose. FOR THE SPORTS FANATIC Sports can change kids' lives and set them up for brighter futures—and oftentimes, this is thanks to the volunteers willing to make youth competition possible. To play your part, work as an umpire or referee, donate money for new uniforms and equipment, or get into coaching. Thousands of youth leagues and organizations need a hand, and you can be the person to provide a winning experience. FOR THE FOODIE Whether you're a self-proclaimed chef or an actual one, explore ways to support a nearby food pantry or soup kitchen. If you want to do something outside the kitchen, start a food drive or community garden and donate what you grow. No matter what you cook up, feeding the hungry is an effort that'll to sweeten the day. FOR THE PET LOVER Local animal shelters always need volunteers to care for furry friends and cute critters. Hands-on tasks can include cleaning cages and replenishing water and food bowls, or you can keep a pet out of a shelter by participating in a fostering program. Fortunately, finding an animal shelter in your area is simple with online tools like petfinder.com. However you help, animal shelter volunteering can improve the lives of animals and your life, too.
