y husband and I recently purchased
our first home and, as many people
warned us, things haven't always gone as
planned. A surprise hailstorm called for roof
repairs ASAP, and thanks to shipping delays
we were stuck using a mini fridge longer
than I'd like to admit. Despite all that, it's
been a great experience.
Fortunately, we've had more ups than downs,
and we've loved rolling up our sleeves, getting
to work, and giving our home the spruce-up
that makes it look and feel like us. So far,
the countless trips to the hardware store
and unbelievable amounts of painter's tape
have all been worth it—and those feelings of
pride and accomplishment are invigorating.
Inspired by this positive energy, the team
behind Coming Home and I thought it was
only appropriate to make "refresh" the theme
of this summer issue.
In the following pages, we're sharing 20+
simple projects to refresh your home (P. 16)
and frozen recipes to help you beat the heat
(P. 26). Plus, we take a deep dive into the
cold-plunging wellness craze (P. 6), offer
advice for revamping your community's
pool (P. 28), feature a baseball guide to
renew your knowledge of the sport (P. 10),
and explore devices to freshen up the air
we breathe (P. 15).
Thank you for being here and embracing
the possibilities that lie ahead. Cheers to a
relaxing and refreshing summer!
