3. Create a designated space for relaxing. Your home should be where you go to escape the pressure of daily life. However, it can be challenging to unwind in areas that are normally bustling with energy. If you can't dedicate a room to solely being your happy place, designing multi-function rooms in a way that promotes peace and wellness can help you rest. For example, if you prefer to relax in your living room, displaying cozy items, especially sentimental objects like family blankets or throw pillows you got as a wedding gift, can inspire you to cuddle up and take a break. Or consider purchasing a luxurious couch or chair and take advantage of that comfort when you need it. Alternatively, if you relax by soaking in the bathtub, turn your bathroom into an oasis. Have candles on hand, buy plush towels, or install a heated floor. Overall, including soothing colors, gently scented candles, and natural lighting in your décor will put those finishing touches on your space—and you might get so comfy that you never want to leave. 4. Choose and coordinate your colors wisely. The colors you use in your home can influence your mental and physical health. When decorating, begin with a neutral backdrop. Then, slowly work in other tones, such as: • Yellow. Bright yellow encourages imagination, enthusiasm, and optimism. • Green. Earthy green kindles personal growth and has a calming effect. • Purple. Purple nurtures creativity and luxury. • Gray. Gray motivates you to stay focused. • Pink. Pink is energizing and playful. 23
